Tony’s experience comes from working with a variety of companies, such as Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC) and Nestle SA (VTX: NESN). The list of clients also includes presidential campaigns including Ted Kennedy, George McGovern, and Bill Clinton. The Podesta Group has also worked with government around the world such the Egyptian and Ukrainian governments.

#4. Tony Podesta Hillary Clinton Connection
Tony was a supporter of Hilary Clinton during her campaign for the White House. Tony personally donated and raised money for Clinton’s campaign but did not disclose that he was lobbying for Clinton to win the race.
This is not the first time that Tony and his company failed to disclose his working relationship to the Justice Department. Between 2012 and 2014, the Podesta Group was working for a pro-Russia Ukrainian think tank and not all the details were disclosed to the Justice department.
This happened to be the same time period that Paul Manafort’s firm was representing a Ukraine group. Manafort is the former campaign manager for Donald Trump. These actions have caught the eye of Robert Mueller, who is the head of the special consel investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections.
Mueller is looking to see if there was any collusion between Manafort and his firm in the election. Since Podesta was there working for a pro-Russia group, the matter is being looked into further to determine if there was any wrongdoing. Since Podesta didn’t reveal his personal and business interest, it raised red flags around the issue and the election of 2016.
#5. Was Tony Podesta Involved in Madeleine Beth McCann Controversy?
In 2003, Madeleine Beth McCann disappeared while on vacation in Portugal. Madeleine was there with her parents, siblings, and family friends from the U.K.
On the evening of the disappearance, Madeleine was playing with her siblings in their apartment, while her parents and family friends were having dinner in a restaurant just 180 feet away. Her parents regularly checked in on the children. Later on in the evening, Madeleine’s mother once again checked in on the children and discovered that Madeleine was missing.
At first, when the investigation began, the Portuguese police department believed that Madeleine died inside the apartment from an accident and her parents had covered it up. In 2007, the McCanns were given arguido status, which simply means that the parents were suspected of Madeleine’s disappearance in Portugal.
In July of 2008, Portugal’s General Attorney lifted the arguido status due to a lack of evidence. Madeleine’s parents continued to use private detectives to work on the case, until Scotland Yard took over the case. In 2013, Scotland Yard released images of men wanted in the case, including one man that was seen carrying a child to the beach that night.
Following the release of these images, the Portuguese police department reopened the case. This case was covered by both international and local media outlets. The released images were sketches composed by an artist. The images of the men wanted in the case closely resembled Tony Podesta and his brother John.
This is how the conspiracy theory occurred; the men wanted in the case were between the ages of 20 and 40. At the time, John Podesta was around 58 years of age and Tony was in his late 60s. There were rumors that John happened to be in the country at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance. There was even an email that referenced a Portugal trip, but it occurred months later. In fact, there was no supporting evidence that John happened to be in the country at the time of the disappearance. To this day, Madeleine whereabouts are unknown.
